Rusty Nail Farms is a small farm located in North Central Arkansas. Owned and operated by David and Ricki Gilbert. We have two daughters Samantha Fulbright and Nicole Gilbert. We started out with six cross bred Barbado sheep to train our Austrailian Shepherds on. As our daughters got older, they joined 4-H and decided to raise sheep as their project. Now they are active members in the 4-H and FFA programs building great life skills and lasting friendships.
It has took many trials and errors but we figured out that Katahdin sheep were a good fit for us. We still like the Barbado sheep but have grown to love the Katahdins. We now have 30 head of registered Katahdin ewes. The girls show at the county and state level in Arkansas and are learning good life lessons in and out of the show ring.
Now that the girls are grown. We have moved from showing sheep to just raising them. We have also started a new chapter on the farm with Longhorn Cattle. We are very excited to see where this chapter takes us and the family with two grand boys now to carry on the showing in the family.
We would love to hear from you and talk about our sheep or our longhorns that have just joined the farm.
